Study and work experience

Xuehong Gu, Ph.D., is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and dean of the School of Chemical Engineering at Nanjing University of Technology. He graduated from the School of Chemical Engineering of Nanjing University of Chemical Technology in 1997 and received his PhD in Engineering from Nanjing University of Technology in June 2002. From April 2003 to January 2007, he engaged in postdoctoral research in the United States. In February 2007, he returned to China to teach. From January to June 2014, he conducted collaborative research as a senior visiting scholar at Imperial College London. From June 2012 to February 2021, he served as deputy director of the National Special Separation Membrane Engineering Technology Research Center of Nanjing University of Technology. From March 2021 to present, he serves as the dean of the School of Chemical Engineering.

 

Research Direction

Mainly focusing on energy and environmental needs, we carry out research on the preparation and application of molecular sieve membranes. Specific applications include organic solvent dehydration (such as ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, tetrahydrofuran and other solvent recovery), gas separation (such as reforming hydrogen production, hydrogen recovery, carbon dioxide Capture and natural gas purification, etc.) and membrane catalytic reactions (xylene isomerization reaction, CO selective oxidation reaction, water vapor shift reaction, etc.).

 

Representative Results

The research results on water-permeable molecular sieve membranes were successfully industrialized, and Jiangsu Jiutian High-tech Co., Ltd. was founded. The results were successfully used in the production and reuse of more than 10 kinds of organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, tetrahydrofuran, and acetonitrile. . He has published more than 100 SCI academic papers, and has obtained more than 40 Chinese invention patents as the first inventor, and 5 Japanese, European and American invention patents. Won 6 provincial and ministerial level awards including the first prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award (2020, first implementer), the first prize of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association Technology Invention Award (2012, first implementer), and was selected into the fourth batch of national science and technology awards Leading innovation talent, "Top Ten Young Science and Technology Stars of Jiangsu Province" in 2013-2014. He is the leader of the inorganic membrane innovation team in key areas of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a winner of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Youth and the Jiangsu Province Outstanding Youth Fund, and a training target for science and technology entrepreneurs in Nanjing. He has presided over more than 20 scientific research projects including national key R&D projects, national 973 projects, 863 projects, and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation.
